I haven't worked well with traditional media for years. The last time I seriously pulled my prismacolor pencils out and lapped in their wonderful calming scent was about three years ago for a commission for a close friend of mine.

I've always held the water starters close to my heart from Pokemon, I always chose them. The image of them all curled up sleeping came to me on the bus home from work yesterday arvo. Whipped out the sketchbook and the pen and scribbled it out (and I must say, as someone who enjoys studying people's social behavior, enjoyed having so many people watch but try to pretend they weren't looking. Humans are funny.) I found a pad of desert color canson paper last night, and splurged on by Dracona grabbed my prismas and I sketched it out. Finished it in about five hours, two sittings.

Squirtle, our biggest water starter, shares shell space for Mudkip. Timeline wise, Gen I and III occur at the same time in their respective regions.

Gen II and Gen IV take place three years after Kanto and Hoenn, so Piplup and Totodile snuggle up together, Piplup using Totodile's tail as a blanket.
